Frequently Asked Questions

About the Quilts

  • I create two main types of quilts: T-shirt quilts and baby clothing memory quilts. Each quilt is designed to tell your story—whether it’s celebrating years of concerts, sports, and adventures through your favourite T-shirts, or preserving the tiny outfits that marked your baby’s earliest milestones. Every piece of clothing you send is full of memories, and my job is to stitch them together into something beautiful, functional, and one-of-a-kind.

  • Yes! While my main focus is T-shirt quilts and baby clothing memory quilts, I can also work with a variety of meaningful garments, such as jerseys, dresses, or flannel shirts. Each non-T-shirt project is fully custom, and I’ll work with you to create a design that honours the items you provide.

  • It depends on the quilt size and the design. As a general guide, a lap and throw quilt usually needs about 12–20 items. If you’re unsure, I can help you decide exactly what’s needed for your vision.

  • In most cases, yes. I can work around or incorporate details like buttons, pockets, or patches so they add character to your quilt. If something is too bulky for sewing, I’ll find a way to creatively work with it or suggest an alternative.
For baby clothing quilts, on items like onesies with zippers and buttons, I usually take patches from the back of the garmet and avoid the embellishments.

  • Absolutely. Mixing materials can add texture and variety to your quilt. I’ll make sure everything works well together so it’s comfortable, durable, and visually cohesive.

  • While we mostly do uniform cutting of the shirts to provide a grid like look, if you’re looking to have a puzzle-like appearance, please reach out before placing an order and we can discuss if I’m able to achieve the look you’re going for.

Shipping & Location

  • I’m based in Hamilton, Ontario, where I create each quilt with care in my home studio.

  • Yes, I ship quilts across Canada. I package every quilt securely to protect it during transit; however, once the quilt leaves my studio, I’m not responsible for any loss or damage during shipping. I will work with you to choose a tracked and insured shipping method for peace of mind.
The customer will be responsible for the shipping cost.

  • Once your order is confirmed, I’ll provide all the details for sending your clothing items. You can mail them to my Hamilton studio using a reliable, trackable shipping method (shipping costs are your responsibility). If you’re local, you can drop them off by appointment to make things easier. I also offer a monthly pickup service somewhere between Toronto and the Niagara corridor on a day that works for me—just ask if you’d like to arrange this!

  • Yes! If you’re local to Hamilton or nearby, we can arrange a convenient drop-off or pickup to simplify the process.
This is the most ideal option to ensure your items are being handled with the most amount of care.

Pricing & Payment

  • Pricing depends on the size of the quilt, the number of clothing items, and any special design requests. As a guideline, lap quilts typically start around $350, with larger sizes like twin-size quilts costing more. Because every quilt is fully custom, I provide personalized quotes after discussing your specific needs and the items you want included.

Please review our pricing page to get a baseline on prices.

  • Yes, to reserve your spot and begin work on your quilt, I require a $100 deposit. The remaining balance is due before shipping or local pickup.

  • Payments can be made securely using your credit or debit card through my Squarespace website. I also accept e-transfers for convenience.

  • Because each quilt is fully custom and handmade with a lot of thought and care, I want you to be completely happy with the finished product. If you need to cancel before I’ve begun work on your quilt, I can refund your deposit in full. Once production starts, refunds aren’t available.

Please be sure to communicate any must-haves, concerns, or special requests before work begins. I’m happy to keep you updated every step of the way, including sharing quilt layout options, so you feel confident and excited about the final result.

Care Instructions

  • Quilts are meant to be used and loved—they’re not just keepsakes for display. To help yours last for years, I recommend gentle care. Most quilts can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent, and put through the dryer on a low heat setting.

Of course, if any of the items you supply have special care instructions, then you will need to continue to follow those.

  • Yes, quilts can usually be machine washed and dried, but I suggest using a gentle cycle and low heat or air-dry settings to protect the fabric and stitching. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the materials.

  • Yes! Quilts are made to last, but if your quilt ever gets torn or damaged, within reason, please reach out. I’m happy to help with repairs or touch-ups to keep your memory quilt in great shape.

Process

  • On the “order custom quilt” page, add to cart one of the options for a T-shirt Quilt or baby memory quilt and pay the $100. You’ll receive an order confirmation email that contains a link to a “custom quilt form”. Once you’ve submitted the form, I’ll reach out to you to start the process of getting your items to me.

If you have any questions before committing, simply reach out via my contact form or email to start the conversation. We’ll discuss your vision, the items you have, and the quilt size you want. Once we’ve settled on a plan, I’ll send you an order confirmation and details about next steps.

  • Because each quilt is custom and hand-made with care, I manage a waiting list. Submitting your deposit cements your name on the waiting list. Once I have your items, I’ll send you a timeline estimate based on where you are on the waitlist.

  • Turnaround times vary depending on current orders and the complexity of your quilt, but typically it takes about 3-8 weeks from when I receive your clothing items. I’ll keep you updated throughout the process and always communicate if there are any delays.

  • If you would like your quilt back within 3 weeks time of me receiving your items, it will be subject to a $100 rush fee. This is subject to my availability. Please reach out to discuss.

Customization

  • Yes! Your quilt should feel personal to you, so I’m happy to discuss layout ideas, colour schemes, and overall style before I begin. If there are certain details you must have, please let me know at the start so I can design accordingly.
Please feel free to also send me any inspiration photos that you’ve found online that you like.

  • Not at this time. As I grow the business I’ll look at adding this as an option.

  • Yes, and I approach these projects with the utmost care and respect. I understand how sentimental these pieces are, and I’ll work closely with you to make sure the final quilt honours their memory beautifully.

If you’re looking at commemorating them through their clothing that isn’t necessarily T-shirts, reach out for a custom quote on a patchwork quilt, and we can work together to make something beautiful.
